How much does an air conditioning gas recharge cost in Benidorm?
Finding the leak, repairing it and recharging the gas in a split in Benidorm usually costs between €200 and €450, including VAT. The price depends on where the leak is, how much gas is needed and which type: R410A costs considerably more than R32. A unit with no leak doesn't lose gas, so recharging without repairing means paying twice.

Signs it's low on gas
It cools less than it used to, the outdoor unit frosts up, the pipes ice over or the unit shows a pressure error. In summer the classic sign is a lounge that won't drop below 26 degrees with the unit flat out.
How we do it
We check the pressures, trace the leak with an electronic detector or nitrogen, repair the joint or damaged part, vacuum the circuit and charge the exact amount the manufacturer specifies.
R22, R410A and R32
Modern units use R32 or R410A. Very old R22 units can no longer be topped up with that gas; we explain the options, which nearly always mean replacing the unit.
How we find the leak
We recover the gas, fill the circuit with pressurised nitrogen and trace the loss with an electronic detector and leak spray on the joints. On the coast it's nearly always at the flare connections, the outdoor unit valves, or a coil pitted by salt. We repair, pull a vacuum and charge the exact amount shown on the label.
Where we fit
We're a good fit if your unit isn't cooling well or you've seen ice on the pipes. If water is also dripping indoors, it may be a different problem: see our page on leaks.
Frequently asked questions
How often does air con gas need recharging?
On a unit with no leaks, never. If it needs gas, there's a leak to fix.
How do I know which gas my unit uses?
It's on the label of the outdoor unit. Send us a photo on WhatsApp and we'll tell you.
Can an R22 unit be recharged?
Topping up with new R22 is no longer allowed. We explain the alternatives, which usually mean replacing it with an R32 unit.
How much gas does a split hold?
A 2.5 to 3.5 kW home split normally holds between 0.5 and 1 kg of refrigerant. The exact amount is printed on the outdoor unit's label.
